Eastern Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic offers free sports-injury screenings for school-aged athletes.

When school's in session, EC Ortho is there to support our community's school-aged athletes through our Saturday-morning sports-injury clinic, Saturday Screenings. This free service is designed to help student athletes and their parents determine whether an injury requires medical intervention. Race proceeds support Girls on the Run, a terrific after-school program for girls age 8 to 13 years old. Girls on the Run educates and prepares girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living, all while training to run a 5K.

Since Girls on the Run was launched in Onslow County in the fall of 2009 over 200 girls have participated in this life-changing program. Administered by the Wilmington Family YMCA, Girls on the Run in Onslow County is currently the Y’s fastest growing area for the program.

The Eastern Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic is now offering
Saturday-morning sports-injury screenings for school-aged athletes.

This free service is designed to help athletes and their parents determine whether an injury requires medical intervention. The clinic is offered each Saturday from 12:00pm – 2:00pm by Dr. Scott Playford, specializing in sports medicine, and Dr. Robert Metts, specializing in orthopaedic surgery.
