Robert E. Metts, M.D.

Dr. Metts received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He was commissioned in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps in 1989, performing his post-graduate training at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia. He served with various commands, completing twenty-four years of service and retiring from the military in 2006. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded numerous unit and individual commendations.
Dr. Metts is a General Orthopaedic Surgeon who treats a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. His particular interests are Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery and treatment of fractures. Dr. Metts’ practice philosophy is simple and systematic: “I will listen carefully to your history and complaints. I will perform a thorough examination and then make treatment recommendations to include non-operative as well as surgical options as appropriate. My goal is to develop a treatment plan that is best for each individual.”

Sean P. Scully, MD, PhD.

Dr Scully received an undergraduate degree from SUNY Binghamton and a Doctorate of Medicine and Biophysics from the University of Rochester. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Duke University and an oncology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has subsequently served on the faculty of Duke, Mayo Clinic and University of Miami. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters in the field of orthopaedics and serves on many national committees and editorial boards.
Dr Scully has a clinical expertise in treating musculoskeletal tumors and hip and knee arthritis. This includes hip and knee replacement as well as the treatment of painful and infected joint replacements. He has established a systematic and patient oriented joint replacement program at Onslow Memorial Hospital that ensures excellent patient outcomes and minimizes patient distress.
